Paintings​

My paintings are inspired by my love of nature, of being outside and benefiting from the restorative power of the natural world.
I live near the east coast of Scotland, and I also spend time on the west coast as well as the islands. The white sands, almost deserted beaches and vast skyline are often the inspiration for my artwork. Walking amongst the machair and grasses that border these beaches is meditative. I have been influenced by the Fife coastline and its many varied beaches as well as the countryside of East Fife. I am fortunate to have views of the sky over the Firth of Forth, and this has inspired me to create sunrise and sunset artwork, with the winter skies providing the best of these spectacles.
I use colours which reflect those in nature and use different tools to create layers, depth and texture to the paintings. As well as brushes, I use rollers, squeegees, palette knives and sponges. I work predominantly with acrylics but will often add pastels and ink for mark making.

I have used stretched canvas board and applied 3 to 4 coats of Gesso to help the paint adhere to the canvas as well as providing texture to the applied paint. The canvas boards measure 6" x 6" and have been mounted and placed in a deep white frame which measure 25cm x 25cm. The aperture measures 12cm by 12cm. This frame can be hung or placed on a shelf using the stand attached to the back of the frame. If you would prefer to choose your own frame, then you can buy these original paintings with a mount.
My paintings are available as originals but can also be purchased as mounted small or large prints. The large print with mount measures 30.5cm by 30.5cm, aperture 18.5cm by 18.5cm. The small print with mount measures 25cm by 25cm, aperture 13cm by 13cm. If you would prefer to purchase the original paintings without the frame, they can be made available with a mount only. You can also buy these images in the form of bookmarks, greeting cards and as coasters. There are A6 postcards which are sold in bundles of 10. Please see below for images and details.

The inspiration for Healing Views
Bookmarks

I have used pressed flowers and grasses - all grown in my own garden - to create some stunning and unique bookmarks. I have also taken sections of my original acrylic art and had these images printed onto card to use as a bookmark.
They are printed on to uncoated 350gsm card with navy or light green background. This gives the bookmark a matt effect and deep tones to the colours. They measure 155mm by 60mm.

Greeting cards

Due to popular demand and feedback from speaking to customers, I have produced a selection of greeting cards.
​
The images have been taken from my original acrylic paintings and pressed flower artwork and then printed on to textured, uncoated card. Each card has an envelope and is left blank for your own message. The cards measure 148mm by 105mm.
​
I am happy to confirm that the protective packaging is made from fully compostable material.
​

Coaster
​
Due to popular demand and feedback from speaking to customers, I have produced a collection of coasters.
​
The images have been taken from my original acrylic paintings and pressed flower artwork and used to create these gorgeous and unique coasters.​ The coaster measure 95mm by 95mm and have a cork backing.
​

Postcards
​
I have created a series of postcards which can be purchased in packs of 10.
​
The images have been taken from my original acrylic paintings and pressed flower artwork and used to create these unique postcards.​ They measure 148mm by 105mm and are printed on 300 gsm card.
​
These are ideal for sending a short message to friends or family and can also be used as a notelet and inserted into an envelope.

Pressed Flowers
​
All of the pressed flowers used in my artwork are grown and collected from my own garden in Fife, Scotland. I garden without using chemicals and actively work alongside nature, encouraging biodiversity in the garden and practising regenerative gardening when growing both the flower garden and the vegetable garden. I grow my own fruit and vegetables as well as plants, trees and flowers. I use my homemade compost to feed and nurture the soil which produces happier and healthier plants and produce.
I let areas of my lawn grow and have planted bulbs and wildflowers into these areas. By letting the grass grow, I have been fascinated by the different grasses that have grown, flowered and produced beautiful seed heads. I use these in my pressed flower artwork.
I slow-press the cuttings taken from the garden in my studio at home. Nothing is used to preserve these pressed flowers and the results achieved are unique to each individual plant and the slow-press method.
I then produce pieces containing a collection of plants and grasses or just focus on one particular plant or grass. I use a variety of different backgrounds, including using paints to create a background, which helps to highlight the plants and grasses.
All my work is original and unique and celebrates the wonderful plants and grasses surrounding us so that we can continue enjoying them beyond their natural lifecycle.
